A few years ago as I contemplated my 50th year fast approaching I became very reflective and reminiscent. I asked myself what regrets did I have? Since childhood I had dreamt of travelling to Europe and had yet to do so for a myriad of reasons. Not fulfilling that dream, yes that would be a major regret. So in September 2017 I spent a glorious month in France. I walked in the footsteps of treasured artists and their work. Visited studios, and landscapes of Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Renoir, Sisley and Modigliani among the many.
The snow globe series is a response to that trip. Fascinated how French modern life plays out amongst glorious Gothic and Medieval backdrops. These paintings on board, explore impressionist and abstract landscapes in mock souvenir snow globes juxtaposed on aged facades, some complete with fake snow.
